Gib Head Keys

Gib Head Keys

DIN 6887, ISO 2492, BS 46

Our stocked range of gib head keys are available in metric and inch sizes and manufactured from key steel. They are a tapered key with a head at the larger end of the key which serves as a stop mechanism on a rotating shaft. We also have capabilities to produce keys to order in stainless steel A2 and A4.
The head of a gib head key also makes for easier removal during disassembly, plus the key has a 1:100 taper to firmly engage the shaft to the hub. Machine keys are mainly used in areas where frequent removal of the key is necessary, such as agricultural equipment to hold gears and pulleys secure to a rotating shaft.
